Business Card & Flyer Design for Dare to Be

After completing many successful projects for Dare to Be in the past year, Sarah came to me for help with her business card design and promotional flyer designs for print.

Sarah loved the work I had done previously with her poster templates, which she uses mostly for digital media. Her brief was simple; double sided, full colour business card design and A5 flyer design with elements taken from the existing poster. Sarah also intended to get the business cards printed with a metallic finish across the logo.

The Business Card Design

I advised Sarah to go for a vertical business card design, as this layout made the most of her logo and would give her cards more individuality. The front was kept simple, giving the logo plenty of space to stand out, without looking squashed in or overzealous. The details from Sarah’s poster were then used on the back of the business card, to reinforce her brand and present a welcoming, vibrant feeling.

The Flyer Design

The flyer design needed to promote the launch of Dare to Be’s new location at The Urban Buddha in The Storey, Lancaster. Sarah asked me to use the same graphic from her poster template as the front, and we discussed what other information it should include. We decided the logos for both The Storey and The Urban Buddha should be shown along with the address. Sarah supplied these (with permission from both companies) for me to use. The Storey’s logo matched in with the flyer artwork perfectly, and overall a clean look was achieved that remains true to Dare to Be’s existing style.

On the back, Sarah wanted a much simpler design with plenty of copy space for all her information. I matched this with the back design of her business card for further brand consistency.

Supplied Files

I made sure the completed files were sent in the correct format to her chosen print suppliers (Vistaprint and Leafletfrog) and specified which areas should be given the metallic finish. When her business cards and flyers arrived, Sarah was delighted with the result and quality of the print. She is in love with both designs and would definitely recommend the printers as well. Sarah sent me a photo to show how well they turned out.

Since completing this project I have also created some matching social media templates which Sarah now uses to share testimonials through Facebook.
