My name is Rose McKeon and I’m a Freelance Web Designer and Front-end Developer living in the Hillfoots near Stirling. When I’m not in a river or on a mountain, I love developing with Foundation and WordPress.
I have a wide range of design and development skills.
In total I have ten years industry experience in website design. Most recently, I spent six years working for a web design company in Lancaster. In my role there, I instructed and co-ordinated the design team. As project manager and main point of client contact during the design process, I worked closely with every team member. My responsibilities also included design, coding, sys admin, hosting management and customer support. We focused mainly on theme development for WordPress, creating bespoke themes for company use. I was also responsible for developing our workflow and implementing crucial, performance enhancing changes. We implemented version control and began using Sass, SMACCS and Foundation – making our code faster, more consistent and ultimately more scalable. Since then, beginning in March 2014, I have been working independently for a number of agencies and corporations – broadening my skillset and becoming familiar with a range of different working practices.
You can see the quality of my work for yourself by taking a look through my portfolio.
I’m always up for trying something new. I love the outdoors, hiking, climbing, caving and kayaking. I’ve recently learnt SCUBA diving and hope to be a qualified Sports Diver this year. I love the sea and have an avid interest in marine biology. I’ll jump at any chance to get my drill out (tools make me happy), love drawing, painting and cooking/eating eastern food.
I have and always will work with a wide range of industries. But more than anything, I would love any opportunity to work on a design or development project for; Specialist Equipment, Handmade Goods, Textiles, Sea-Life, Boats, Tools, Machinery, Fresh Produce, Chillies, Schools or anything similar.
Even if your project doesn’t fit my bizarre wish list, please do get in touch. I’m always interested to work on new ideas and genuinely enjoy the opportunities I get as a web designer to learn about different trades. I work hard, and I enjoy a challenge.
